I know right. Not even some basic manners!

You possibly saved the child''s life and not even a thank you? I guess it would have been different if the kid was food.

Fat shits ought to have their children taken away from them. They can't even take care of themselves, much less a child.

Omigod! I literally did this the other week with my niece. Expect I bolted from the inside of my hammy sisters house. I also got to fair shoulder her out of my way as she stood there shrieking in terror. Something I have wanted to do for a while...To be fair, I have seen her run faster than I would have thought possible in order to catch my niece before - she once reacted so quickly I didn't even know what had happened until it was over (my niece is a runner) - but I think this was pure shock and terror that rooted her to the ground.
She ran out onto the road from in between our parked cars. No way that van would have seen her in time to slow down. A neighbour saw what was happening and tried to get him to slow down. My niece (2) saw the van and froze in the road. In the end I vaulted the bonnet of my car and literally tackled my niece from one side of the road to the other. It is worth mentioning that I am speaking about a country road, one car wide. The cars were parked in front of the gate because my sister is getting work down on the house. The door was left open in the confusion and that's how my niece bolted out the front. She has freedom in the back because there is no way on to the road. Not the front. I ended up twisting my ankle, landing in the ditch with my niece on top of me, epic bruise on my ass (so sexy) and I've a nettle rash all down one arm. That entire story sounds so fake, but I swear it's not. I do not belong on Tubblr with my self-praising fan fiction.
The guy driving the van got out and puked his guts up. My niece got such a fright I doubt she'll ever do it again. My sister puked her guts up as well, but at least did it in the bathroom after things had calmed down (puke makes me wanna puke). She also had the van driver and neighbour in for a cup of tea to settle their nerves. I just had a really sore ass. I did get the shakes and cried when telling my SO about it that night. I don't think the reality of the situation hit me until then.
I think I would have beaten my sister if she had treated anyone else in my story like that ham treated you in yours. I must say, she is a better parent than she is a person and realised exactly what could have happened and how much she owed to everyone - not just me - the neighbour for drawing attention to her, the van driver for his quick reflexes... If they hadn't done that, all I'd have done would give myself a prime view of an absolute tragedy. I wouldn't have gotten there in time, only by a few seconds but that's all it takes. She actually bought me a spa weekend away with my SO, she told me that it's not for a few months because she couldn't afford one sooner and that she "knows it in no way can thank you as much as I need to".
/longstory.
The least that bitch could have done was say thank you. Did she not realise that accidents really do happen? There isn't always someone there to swoop in and save the day like you did. AND sans coffee.

That was a very English story. Thank you.

Your story makes me want to puke a bit, I have nightmares about something similar happening to my daughter!
Glad you and all other parties managed to avert that tragedy. And that your sister realised the full nature of what could have happened and what you did :-)
Hows the ankle and nettle rash?
The rash has died down considerably, thank you for asking :) It was a week and a bit ago but I have sensitive skin so it took a bit to clear. My ankle is a little bruised but no longer bothering me. My ass is black and blue. I must have landed on a stone or something :D
I hope nothing like this ever happens to your daughter! Sometimes you just want to wrap them in bubble wrap, even though you know you can't be too over-protective and you want them to grow up aware but not scared!

Reminds me of the time my husband retrieved a toddler who had escaped out the front door of a fast food restaurant. The kid was running full speed into the very busy parking lot. Hubby captured the little guy, wasn't more than 2, and brought him back inside to find his owner. The cow who birthed him rewarded my husband by calling him a pedophile and slapping him with her purse. She hadn't even noticed her offspring was missing. You did the right thing. Poor kid.

That's disgusting behaviour. But of course she didn't notice, there was food! It's a good thing the normals of us that are left do the right thing.

Fat doesn't affect anyone else though, right? Fuck being able to save your children if the situation calls for it. Whether it be a child running into the road, being stuck in a house fire, drowning, etc. Their kids are just more likely to die if there isn't a bystander.

Thankfully you were there! Can't believe she never spoke to you again after that though. Shows how bad they are, somewhere under all that fat they know how shit they are at everything including that basic requirement to keep your kid safe. Then someone steps on and they can't hide from the truth anymore.

They probably had to get their mom to get the fuckin' stick and duct tape.
