I've been in a fight and other situations where I expected to die, but in general I'm not a big believer in quitting before something's over. I've had what I thought where my last thoughts.
I don't resign myself to failure. I don't have a huge preference for dying of old age.
This is why progressives are human garbage. Fuck western civilization lets sympathize with criminals because the current generation gets sad easy.
What we need is less empathy, empathy has us paying for leeches to reproduce, and survive via the salaries of those who work. It has us preserving the lives of thieves. Civilization is not defined by empathy civilization is defined by accomplishment.

Then it should be intuitive to you how stupid it is to turn every tiny petty theft on Earth into a do-or-die situation where all witnesses are liable to get shot preemptively.

I'm not as scared of death as you. Also if it where legal to shot a theif they wouldn't be shot preemptively (maybe accidentally is the word you're looking for).
I think you overestimate the level of casualties.
If anything thievery would go down and it's worth perhaps the few deaths committed by a sloppy thief to be able to execute more people whose lives have negative value.
People still live in areas with tornadoes. Stray police bullets kill bystanders. Car accidents happen. There are all sorts of acceptable risks in society this would just be another.
