People started shitting on the console before it ever came out, started making insane demands and freaking out over minor delays and shit that is going to happen to any project this size. Tons of butt hurt when they were told oh this happened we are doing this because cry babies wanted it now. So I stopped reading anything about it. I got mine right when I should have from kickstarter after the initial delay. People expected and Xbox or a playstation at the $99 cost not a niche "mobile" type deal for your tv.
That said is it perfect No its not, is it decent sure. I have mine hooked up to my Tv to this day, Ill still go to my PS4 for serious gaming and use the ouya strictly for emulators and XMBC and it works great,

Given that the ouya was basically just an android device it isn't to hard to just repurpose it to something else - like a kodi box. People with one of these can still get their monies' worth out of it.

I did buy an Ouya. I appreciate how they pushed the ball forward for Android gaming in the living room, but their choice of hardware and lack of Google Play store is what sunk them. I have an Nvidia Shield TV now and it's great for playing low-effort time-waster games. I just wish Duck Game's Android version hadn't been Ouya exclusive.

I don't know why these Android consoles try to be the next big thing right off the bat. Being the next big thing is impossible if you can't be something good first.

I backed the console. The console itself was interesting but everything else was garbage. No Google Play, insanely bad customer service and low quality controllers.
This is what condition it was delivered in. A lot of people had waterlogged consoles in Europe. It had something to do with missing paperwork so the consoles were held up in Germany.
They ignored my support ticket for twenty days. When I tweeted the damage, they instantly sent me a replacement. They were trying to market themselves while pissing on Kickstarter supporters. They alienated a lot of the backers that way.
