We are also the only apes with drive through, making us fatter.
This study had to have been conducted on apes in captivity. I would argue that totally skews the results. As stated in the article the basal metabolic rates are not all that different. Now an ape in a cage being cared for is not going to expend the same amount of energy as a wild ape.

They tried to account for that by choosing 'sedentary' humans for comparison.
