I can't see this game being massively adopted. There's something about Sandbox MMOs that end up killing them in the end. I think a developer needs to pick apart World of Warcraft for everything it was at it's peak and try to recreate that with a more robust model.
WoW did pretty much everything right early on.
Story was fun.
Quests were varied, redundant, but varied.
Dungeons were fun to find randoms to attempt to complete.
Raids were challenging progression that required players to actually work together and a leader who knew what they were doing.
PvP was interesting to partake in, both in battlegrounds and open world. Though definitely not perfect. The game was NOT built for PvP at first, and still kind of struggles to this day.
A large open world with lots of easter eggs.
^ Easy to get into abilities. Very straightforward. Though lots of people complain about this.
I only say this because, even though WoW may have lost 8-9 million subs over the last 2-4 years It's still the most subscribed MMO in the world. That means it's doing something right.
