As long as it's not doing something illegal. Fuck no.

If a post from one of their subs pops up on my /v/all page I'll click the block button on the subverse.

If a troll or spammer is constantly popping up in threads where I'm commenting I'll tag them with VEE (found at /v/vee ) as whatever they are, "Racist, Idiot, Troll, Spammer, or what ever", down vote them, laugh, then go about my day.

They have the right to be idiots and I have the right to call them idiots. Fair trade.

Nothing should be "off limits". If you don't like something the responsibility of avoiding it falls on you.

Fuck off Asshole. If it's not illegal we don't care. People have the right and responsibility to close their browser when they do not approve. They do not have the right to stop the ideas of others- no matter how much the Words bite at them. Words don't hurt people except in their delusions. We will ridicule, emotionally abuse, and torment everyone that claims otherwise.

We don't care about feelings. We don't care about people's pasts. We don't care about their religion, their sex lives, or their skin colors. We don't care if someone wants attention. If she comes here looking for sympathy because she happens to own a clitoris and offers nothing of value to us, tries to change this place, or is disrespectful, then she can expect torment- and rightly so.

We will not be reformed by unworthy justice crusaders. We demand free expression in all its forms that do not incite specific violence or harms children. Otherwise, welcome and enjoy the show. Contribute something great.

Fuck off Asshole

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Dude, I actually agree with the notion that all content should be allowed. Assuming my intention and insulting me for asking a non-biased question sounds exactly what the "justice crusaders" you refer to would do. I'm not quite sure what your point is here?

Did you really have to jump straight to calling him an arsehole? You seem to be assuming his intent and not just taking it as a question.

My intent was to be absurdly and explicitly offensive, since the subject matter is the line of appropriate offensiveness. Clearly, I succeeded if you could not tell where the line was.

Only thing I'm particularly worried about is stuff that features animal/child cruelty or gore, other than that I have no issues with race-hate subs, its just an opinion after all.

No. Hearing and seeing things you don't like is part of the price you pay for free speech.

I don't ever plan on subscribing to or looking at /v/niggers, /v/coontown, /v/jailbait, etc. So why should I worry about being smeared by the opinions of others that I will never meet.

While I do agree to this by logical reasoning, I can't say I feel good about it.

It's a verry good question though @Drifus_McGee! :)

I totally agree with you there. Being exposed to views and things beyond your own comfort zone is a part of life, we shouldn't expect to explore something as vast as the internet and then cry for protection from hostile views. Doing that in real life will get you laughed at, why should it be different here?

Wow, the dark side shows up pretty fast. Plenty of others I'm not going to mention are already here as well.

Edit: OMG THERE'S A V/BOBROSS ALREADY! WOOT!

The dark side appeared not necessarily because people wanted the content, but as a not-so-subtle "fuck you" to reddit.

I posted this in another thread.

If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.

-John Stuart Mill

The community will deal with content they disagree with through discussion and voating.

From the FAQ:

Will you censor comments and submissions?

While we don't necessarily approve or agree with all content that users submit to Voat, our policy is to not meddle and not censor content unless said content is illegal in Switzerland.

I think the only banned things I've seen are based on spam not content. And even then you can still discuss the content from the banned site.

The "as long as it's legal" part actually comes with two stipulations as specified in the User Agreement:

Rules

Keep Personal Information Off voat: You agree to not post anyone's sensitive personal information that relates to that person's real world or online identity.

Respect other users

You may not purposefully negate any user's actions to delete or edit their content on voat.

I just came to talk about this, because I saw a doxxing post in /v/TooPersonal and that sort of thing seems out of line to me, even though it may not specifically be illegal. I think that's probably the only non-illegal thing I don't approve of since it can lead to harassment so easily.

Ah thanks, It wasn't in the FAQ that I saw. That should be mirrored over there.
