My mother is the diametric opposite. Can barely walk the length of the street, says she is 'probably obese' (260lbs, 5'5"), needs an inhaler on the reg and has zero clue about nutrition (thinks cheese and crackers is a good source of protein and that raw salad greens have no vitamins or minerals). She keeps blaming her tiredness on being old (63) and the humidity, and doesn't, at least openly, link getting yearly chest infections w poor nutrition (she is A NURSE). At only 63 - 20 years shy of her life expectancy - her body can hardly do anything. When I said positive things about her on walking 4,000 steps w me yesterday she snapped and said she doesn't care and wishes I would just accept her and started a fee-fee rant (that i shut down). Sorry for hijacking, but you triggered me (j/k). I hope your bro listens because being older + obese is some bullshit and he does not want to go down that road.

My mom will be 62 in December, she's like 4'11 and 110lbs which she is still upset about because she's always hovered around 105 haha. I've never seen that woman be sedentary, but she couldn't be because she was a single mom of three and for 4 years took care of her best friend dying of brain cancer (she lived with us in lieu of having nurses/she watched me when my mom wasn't home). I aspire to be like my mom because she came from a Bedoin life in Morocco (we're Berbers) and took care of shit from her own physique to my siblings to her passion in work. It upsets me so much my brother has forsaken his health. When my mom visited him she said they ate out every meal, even when she offered to make dinner, and my brother and his boyfriend ate basically only carbs, in HUGE portions. Carby appetizers followed by carby entrees and lots of wine. She sounded defeated. That's never how we ate growing up.

Eating whole proteins, taking in adequate macros, not just eating empty calories...are you serious?

I wish my mom was like this. She only mentions weight when someone gets "too thin." smh
